Even as a kid, Dr. Steven Ortiz realized the Bible grew out of a different cultural context than his own. This ignited an interest in him to travel to Israel and learn geography and archaeology. Today he is the Director of the Linear Center for Archeology at Lipscomb University. He has dug in several places in the country, but has spent much of his time in the Shephelah. This week we talk about what archaeology contributes to biblical studies and how it continues to challenge us to read the Bible in a culturally appropriate way.
