You may know Leviticus by its stereotype of a list of rules, or a long list of things that make humans impure and the corresponding sacrifices that have to be sacrificed to re-establish purity. Well, this is why I am so excited to introduce you Dr. Tamar Kamionkowski. She recently finished a commentary on the book of Leviticus and is here to help stoke our curiosity about if we are reading it incorrectly. What role do women have in ancient Israelite holiness practices? Which is more important: the individual or the community?
